Man is a determined being. Unlike animals, we can change our destiny, our environment and we can escape our surroundings by making them better. We naturally yearn for something more, but that yearning is often misunderstood. We all have greatness inside each of us and the dream of gaining riches to escape challenge and responsibility is not only unlikely, but would also damn our progress and ultimately destroy our happiness.
In The Greatest Salesman in the World, Og Mandino wrote, “..my son, do not aspire for wealth and labor not only to be rich. Strive instead for happiness, to be loved and to love, and most important, to acquire peace of mind and serenity.”
The funny thing about what Og wrote is that when you strive for happiness in work, family and health; financial wealth often occurs. As a fervent capitalist, I have seen this happen. The more I focus on being truly happy, the more stress I can handle, the more people I can truly influence for good and the more success I have experienced.
David Blanchard, CEO of the Og Mandino Group, has been writing a training manual with me for Sanki Global and he added an incredible line about true entrepreneurs:
“They seek to acquire ever-increasing levels of ability to handle ever-increasing levels of stress with ever-increasing levels of ease. This allows them to create more, faster, and better.”
I challenge you to look at your motives for success. Is it to escape a life of responsibility or are you looking to be truly better than who you are today? I have a renewed commitment to handle more so I can create more, faster and better. I hope you do too.
Dedicated to your success,
