    Jeff,

You are so right on with this. Network marketing products are often over priced and we spend way more time comparing statistics to prove how good they are. I am amazed at how some companies make it with their overpriced products that would never sell at the grocery store. However, as I look over my adult years, I have seen a lot of companies with tons of “momentum” go away after the money only goes to the top people.

Thanks for this article, it was very helpful.

There are a lot of good products out there but it seems that companies screw them up by not truly understanding their people. You are right, most distributors don’t make money and the meetings are all about just getting rich when only the top distributors and company is making all the money.

I have never made much money in network marketing, but I have loved some of the meetings when my company was first starting. It seems now my company is becoming just like all the other companies with prideful management that doesn’t really listen to us any more. I still buy products from another mlm company I joined about 15 years ago because they are so good. I don’t know if I will keep buying my current company’s products if there was no for me behind them.

I agree that MLM is not all about money, but it sure is about helping people make some money.

    Yvonne,

I agree MLM is about helping people make money. However statics show that very few people ever make money. If you read Monavie’s income statement you will see that very few people are really making money when you analyze it carefully.

There a lot of companies that change their comp plans and claim one thing but you read what they are really paying and many people are just fooling themselves if they think anybody but the elite distributors and execs are making the money.

    Ted,
I think Monavie is an example of a company that may be out of control. Their leaders encourage people to buy $1000 of autoship. That is crazy.

I love network marketing and I believe that Jeff does too. If you encourage people to stay within their means and develop them as leaders, there is no better way in the world to make money.

    Yvonne,
You are right, it can be a great way to feel included and make money. I have never made more than $500 a month, but it was an incredible feeling to help some of my downline get $300 checks. I had one guy pass me up and he made $1200, it was awesome.

I just joined Monavie and love it. I can’t afford $1000 a month, but when my business gets bigger, I will buy more. Not everyone buys $1000 a month.

Great article and I like the new look of your site.
